Le classement des équipes internationales de trail 2025 est une collaboration entre Distances+ et Enduraw

Les équipes Hoka, Salomon et Adidas Terrex forment le trio de tête du tout premier classement international des teams de trail. Elles devancent, tout en haut de cette pyramide de la performance collective (World Trail Team), les équipes On, Asics et ACG Nike.

Kailas et The North Face dominent respectivement les divisions inférieures Continental Trail Team et Challenger Trail Team.

Ce classement mondial – mixte et paritaire – a été établi en calculant la moyenne des indices de performance des quatre meilleurs athlètes masculins et des quatre meilleures athlètes féminines de chaque team — en date du 25 novembre 2025 — et ce, après avoir harmonisé, et donc ré-évalué, les « scores » des femmes par rapport à ceux des hommes, selon une formule mathématique conceptualisée par Enduraw.

À l’issue des consultations menées auprès des team managers – du moins celles et ceux qui ont souhaité participer à la discussion, soit une majorité –, un point fort est ressorti : la volonté de structurer le classement en plusieurs catégories.

Dans cet esprit, et à l’image de ce qui se fait dans de nombreux sports professionnels, le classement international des teams de trail running a été organisé en trois divisions hiérarchisées en pyramide : World Trail Team (6 équipes), Continental Trail Team (8 équipes) et Challenger Trail Team (10 équipes).

Cinq équipes dont vous retrouverez ci-dessous la composition du dernier trimestre ne figurent pas dans le classement final, car leur cotation moyenne est inférieure à la 3e division (Challenger Team). Il s’agit de Compressport, NNormal et Rossignol — qui sont pénalisés par l’absence, pour l’instant, d’une quatrième athlète féminine —, ainsi qu’Arc’teryx et Wise Ultra Running, deux équipes misant davantage sur les projets d’aventures et l’ultra-endurance que sur les compétitions organisées.

Deux classements distincts ont été établis, l’un à partir des indices de performance ITRA (International Trail Running Association), l’autre à partir des index UTMB. En effet, ni l’un ni l’autre de ces systèmes de calcul de niveau de performance n’est parvenu à faire l’unanimité au cours des dernières années (d’autant qu’ils sont confidentiels et donc opaques), mais l’un et l’autre sont régulièrement utilisés et cités. D’où ce choix de les considérer tous les deux, du moins pour le moment, même si cela nuit potentiellement à la compréhension globale et que cela complexifie l’analyse qui découlera de ces classements puisqu’il y a ponctuellement des divergences entre les deux. Dans cette première mouture, les six équipes composant le haut de la pyramide sont toutefois identiques dans les deux classements.

Précisons que l’ensemble des données prises en compte dans ce classement international sont publiques. Sa réalisation – fruit d’un investissement bénévole entre l’initiateur du classement Fred Bousseau, les data scientists d’Enduraw et Distances+ – est motivé par la volonté d’informer avec neutralité celles et ceux qui suivent l’évolution du trail de haut niveau, et plus particulièrement sa professionnalisation. Ce classement est un outil d’analyse parmi d’autres.

Les calculs ont été arrêtés fin novembre 2025. Ils seront actualisés tous les trois mois. Autrement dit, d’un trimestre à l’autre, les athlètes les plus performants pourront varier. À noter que les transferts d’athlètes pourraient également avoir une incidence future sur le classement.

Voici, ci-dessous, la liste des équipes internationales de trail running (ITRA puis UTMB), présentées par ordre alphabétique, ainsi que leur composition. Seuls les quatre meilleurs athlètes masculins et les quatre meilleurs athlètes féminines de chaque team (parmi un effectif parfois important à l’image d’Asics) ont été pris en compte pour constituer ce tout premier classement mondial.

Fait marquant : après normalisation des indices de performance, qui permet de comparer plus facilement le niveau des athlètes masculins et féminines, sur les 29 équipes répertoriées ci-dessous, 17 sont menées par des athlètes féminines (59 %) sur la base des Index UTMB contre 13 (45 %) sur la base des indices de performance ITRA.
